About the designer:
Pedro Ghyczy (1928 – 2017) was a Hungarian Brazilian designer and architect known for his innovative approach to furniture design, combining modern engineering with organic and functional forms. After studying architecture in Hungary, he moved to Germany and later to Brazil, where his work gained recognition for the creative use of materials such as polyurethane and glass, resulting in lightweight, ergonomic pieces with a futuristic aesthetic. Among his most iconic designs are chairs and armchairs that appear to float or curve naturally, reflecting his interest in the integration of form, function, and comfort. His work stands at the crossroads of European modern design and mid 20th century Brazilian experimentation, and is now appreciated in both private collections and design museums.
