About the designer:

Gunnar Nylund (1904 – 1997) was a Finnish-Swedish designer and ceramicist, considered one of the key figures of 20th-century Scandinavian ceramics. Born in Paris and educated in Copenhagen, he co-founded the Saxbo workshop in the 1930s before moving to Sweden to join Rörstrand, where he worked as artistic director for several decades. During this period he developed some of his best-known series, characterized by organic forms, textured surfaces, and matte glazes in natural tones, closely aligned with the aesthetics of Nordic modern design.
