About the designer:
Sylvia Leuchovius (1915 – 2003) was a prominent Swedish ceramic artist associated for much of her career with Rörstrand, where she worked from the late 1940s through the 1970s. Trained at the Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, she developed a highly personal language within Nordic modernism, creating wall reliefs, plaques, and sculptural stoneware pieces with richly textured glazes and a restrained palette, often in earthy tones and deep blues. Her work, which combines abstraction with organic references, gained considerable recognition in postwar Sweden and is now especially valued by collectors of 20th-century Scandinavian ceramics.
