About the designer:
Henning Nilsson was a Swedish ceramicist, born in Välinge in 1907, who followed an unconventional path before fully dedicating himself to ceramics. In his youth he worked in various professions; farmer, tailor, violin teacher, luthier, and antiques dealer, until, through his contact with the sculptor Robert Nilsson and the ceramicist Signe Persson-Melin, he discovered the world of ceramics.
Self-taught, he began by building his own kiln and experimenting with glazes, eventually specializing in the characteristic “oxblood” glazes. From 1954 onward he settled in Höganäs, one of the historic centers of Swedish ceramics, where he developed most of his stoneware production, characterized by simple forms and a strong emphasis on textures and glazes.
