About the designer:
Gunnar Nylund (1904 – 1997) was a Finnish-Swedish designer and ceramic artist, regarded as one of the key figures in 20th-century Scandinavian ceramics. Born in Paris and educated in Copenhagen, he co-founded the Saxbo pottery workshop in the 1930s before moving to Sweden to join Rörstrand, where he served as artistic director for several decades. During his time there, he developed some of his most celebrated series, characterized by organic forms, textured surfaces, and matte glazes in natural tones, reflecting the principles of modern Nordic design.
