About the Designer:
Günter Praschak (1940–2015) was a distinguished Austrian ceramic artist, designer, and professor, widely regarded as one of the leading figures of modern Austrian ceramics. After studying in Vienna and specializing in ceramic craftsmanship in Munich, he worked as a designer for the Danish manufacturer Knabstrup Keramiske Industri between 1964 and 1970, where he developed glazes, reliefs, ceramic tiles, and functional stoneware. Upon returning to Austria, he headed the ceramics department at the University of Art and Design Linz for more than three decades, educating several generations of ceramic artists. His work ranges from functional ceramics to large-scale sculptural pieces, characterized by organic forms, experimental glazes, and a close relationship between art, design, and industry. His work has been exhibited internationally and is represented in both public and private collections.
