About the designer:
Andersson & Johansson has its origins in a pottery founded in 1909 by Johannes Olofsson and Sigfrid Johansson, which would later become known as Höganäs Keramik. After Olofsson’s departure in 1910, Karl Andersson joined the partnership, and for a time the company operated under the name Andersson & Johansson.
Regarded as one of the most significant ceramic designers in Sweden, Andersson developed at the Höganäs factory an extensive production of vases, bowls, and stoneware pieces distinguished by the elegance of their forms, the technical mastery of their glazes, and an aesthetic that combined craftsmanship with a contemporary sensibility. Many of these works gained institutional recognition and are part of the collections of the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, the Cultural History Museum in Lund, and the Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg.
The pieces from this period often feature organic forms, warm glazes in earthy tones, and, in some cases, decorative patterns or textures that add subtlety and expressiveness.
