Ref: GA010039

‘Bredman’ cabinet designed by Carl Malmsten and produced by Carl Löfving & Söner in Sweden during the 1950s.

This tall, compact cabinet combines practicality with strong visual presence. It is made of rosewood, a highly valued wood known for its striking grain, deep color, and smooth texture. The vertical format makes it ideal for smaller spaces where extra storage is needed without taking up much floor space.

The finish enhances the warmth and richness of the grain, while the doors are seamlessly integrated into the design, in line with the understated elegance of mid-century Scandinavian furniture.

This is a versatile piece that works well as a bar cabinet, small sideboard, or storage unit in a study, living room, or hallway. Its timeless design fits naturally into modern, classic, or eclectic interiors.

About the designer:
Carl Malmsten was one of Sweden’s most influential designers of the 20th century. His work is known for its attention to detail, practicality, and use of natural materials. Unlike many of his contemporaries who embraced industrial production, Malmsten strongly supported craftsmanship and a close relationship between maker and user. In addition to his furniture work, he was a committed educator and founded several design schools. His legacy lives on in Swedish homes and the broader history of modern design.

Why choose this piece?
Vintage cabinets like this offer not only practical storage but also character, history, and a sense of authenticity rarely found in modern furniture. This particular piece carries the added value of being designed by a key figure in Scandinavian design, making it both decorative and historically relevant.

Rosewood is no longer used in mass production due to its protected status. Having an authentic piece with a CITES certificate ensures legal provenance and long-term value, both in design and material quality.
