About the firm:
Kaiser-Leuchten, founded in 1895 by Hermann Kaiser in Neheim, Germany, was a leading lighting company renowned for its functional and aesthetic designs. Initially, the company focused on the manufacture of parts for oil lamps, but later expanded its production to electric luminaires. During the 1930s to 1980s, it collaborated with Bauhaus designer Christian Dell to create the KAISER idell series, including the iconic 6631 Luxus desk lamp. After World War II, Kaiser-Leuchten experienced significant growth, employing between 750 and 1000 people. In the 1970s, the company was acquired by Thorn Lighting Group and subsequently ceased operations. Today, the KAISER idell brand is owned by Danish furniture manufacturer Fritz Hansen A/S.
