About the designer:
Kerstin Hörlin-Holmquist (1925–1997) was a prominent Swedish furniture and interior designer associated with postwar Scandinavian modernism. Educated in England and at Konstfack in Stockholm, she gained recognition in 1952 after joining Nordiska Kompaniet (NK), where she contributed to the progressive Triva series aimed at modern living. Her work, such as the Paradiset collection and the Kraal chair, is known for its soft, organic forms and early use of innovative materials like polystyrene. Throughout her career, she collaborated with several Swedish manufacturers and maintained a human-centered design approach, creating comfortable, expressive pieces that remain iconic within 20th-century Scandinavian design.
