About the designer:
Ole Wanscher (1903 – 1985) was one of the great Danish designers of the 20th century and a key figure in Scandinavian design. Trained as an architect at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, he worked alongside Kaare Klint, from whom he inherited a strong appreciation for classical proportions, functionality, and respect for materials. Wanscher drew inspiration from historical European furniture, particularly English and French, reinterpreting it with clean lines and a restrained elegance that is distinctly Danish. His designs, primarily executed in fine woods such as mahogany, rosewood, and oak, are noted for their balance, comfort, and timeless quality, and are now represented in museums and collections around the world.
